The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIT) presented the COVID Sports Guarantee compensation program on January 18, 2021. The programme was prepared in cooperation with the Czech-Moravian Guarantee and Development Bank (ČMZRB).

Purpose/conditions: To mitigate the effects of coronavirus and related emergency measures on small and medium-sized enterprises and the self-employed in this sector. The ČMZRB program includes a portfolio for entrepreneurs in sports for an operating loan provided by commercial banks, including a contribution to pay interest. The program has an approved amount of 1 billion CZK, which will guarantee operating loans of up to 4 billion CZK. The call should be announced later in January 2021, details will be available on the ČMZRB website.
Maximum support granted: The ČMZRB guarantee should amount up to 80% for loans. In addition, entrepreneurs in the field of sport should be able to apply for a financial contribution to interest on a bank loan. The financial contribution should be provided up to 15% of a bank loan used for operating costs (excluding VAT), but at the same time up to a maximum of 1 million CZK. The support for entrepreneurs in the sports sector should be provided on a de minimis basis.
Important deadlines: The expected deadline is January 2021. The program will be announced as a guaranteed part of the EXPANZE support program, which was approved by the Government of the Czech Republic on November 9, 2015, and which is implemented under the Operational Program Enterprise and Innovation for Competitiveness 2014-2020 (OP EIC) through ČMZRB. The program will therefore be financed by the European Structural and Investment Funds.
