Tourism in the CZ

Rules and recommendations

Before you travel, check the applicable rules for accommodation in the Czech Republic. You can find out what you need to prove in other places, for example on the page Services.

Citizens of the Czech Republic, foreigners with a residence permit issued by the Czech Republic, EU+ citizens, and foreigners with a residence permit issued in EU+ countries may enter the Czech Republic for any reason, including tourism. You can find the conditions under which this applies in the Possibilities and Obligations of Foreigners Entering the Czech Republic.

Other foreigners (third-country nationals who do not have a residence permit issued by the Czech Republic or do not have a long-term visa, long-term or permanent residence permit in another EU+ country, and third-country nationals who have been issued a short-stay visa by the Czech Republic before 11 May 2020 and who have been issued a short-stay visa in another EU+ country or are entering the Czech Republic on a visa-free basis) are prohibited from coming to the Czech Republic for other than necessary reasons. These reasons include the necessity to provide for the basic necessities of life, to provide for the care of children; the necessity to provide for the care of animals, to use essential financial and postal services, to refuel, to make acute trips to medical facilities; to social services facilities; to attend urgent official business and to attend a funeral. Travel for tourism purposes is therefore not permitted.

These third-country nationals can come for any reason, including tourism: 1. Citizens who immediately before entering the Czech Republic have stayed for at least 14 days in a country with a low risk of infection and have not stayed for more than 12 hours in the last 14 days in the territory of countries with other than a low risk of infection.

2. Citizens who have had the covid-19 disease in the last 180 days (the need to provide proof of the EU COVID digital certificate or a certificate issued by an authorized body in a third country approved by the EU COVID digital certificate regulation - the list of countries is published on the website of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic). The validity of this certificate must be longer than the length of the trip.

3. Citizens who have undergone a complete vaccination and at least 14 days have passed since its completion (for details on the recognition of vaccination, see Possibilities and Obligations of Foreigners Entering the Czech Republic).

A person who can enter the Czech Republic in accordance with all the measures may travel with an underage child. This child can also enter the Czech Republic if he/she meets all the conditions (for example, a child under the age of 12 is exempt from all the measures, for more information see Possibilities and Obligations of Foreigners Entering the Czech Republic).

Further information and exceptions to the travel ban can be found in the current measure.
