Q: What to do if I am in quarantine and my rental contract runs out?

Generally, if you are in quarantine, you are not allowed to leave the premises where you have started it in. If your rental contract runs out just because the rental period ends or it has been terminated regularly, please try to contact your property owner and ask him/her to postpone the end of your rent until your quarantine has ended. Your property owner should grant you that extra rent time - please note, however, that he/she has the right to demand one rent payment more for that. However, if your rental contract has been terminated as, for instance, a consequence of a gross violation of it, and an eviction has been ruled by a court, this eviction cannot be postponed due to your quarantine, since such a postponing would constitute a breach of that ruling.

Real estate sale and purchase

Real estate sale and purchase is allowed. Personal real estate viewings are allowed to take place again. During such a viewing, all participants should let their respirators put on. Furthermore, it is advisable to ventilate the premises regularly. Nevertheless, you should still prefer online viewings if possible.

If you planned a personal viewing but do not feel well now, you should rather postpone it.

Moving

If you are not in isolation, you can move.

During moving, you should adhere to elevated hygienic measures. Although no special rules apply anymore, we still recommend especially having your respirator or surgical mask put on while in contact with persons not being your household member, sanitizing your hands and maintaining social distancing. As a preventative measure, you should ventilate your new real estate regularly as well.
